The 4th Expanded Meeting of the Directors of the 6th Session of the Engineering Geophysics Professional Committee and the Seminar on the Frontier Technologies and Scientific and Technological Innovations in the Construction of the Bridge – Island – Tunnel of the Shenzhen – Zhongshan Passage: The In – depth Integration of Planning and Practice

From January 10th to 12th, 2025, the 4th Expanded Meeting of the Directors of the 6th Session of the Engineering Geophysics Professional Committee and the Seminar on the Frontier Technologies and Scientific and Technological Innovations in the Construction of the Bridge – Island – Tunnel of the Shenzhen – Zhongshan Passage were grandly held in Guangzhou. The meeting adopted an innovative form combining on – site and online video to ensure wide participation. The meeting comprehensively reviewed the work achievements of the professional committee in 2024, commended the outstanding contributions of the committee members, and carefully outlined the development blueprint for 2025.
Centering around the Shenzhen – Zhongshan Passage, a century – old project, the participants deeply discussed the frontier technologies and scientific and technological innovations in its bridge – island – tunnel construction. The construction of the Shenzhen – Zhongshan Passage faces complex geological conditions, such as deep soft soil foundations and strong – tide sea areas. Geotech Instrument’s advanced equipment and technologies play a key role here. The company’s Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) technology can accurately detect the underground formation structure and geotechnical characteristics, identify potential geological weak areas in advance, and provide key data support for bridge foundation design and tunnel location selection. The 2nd Working Meeting of the Standing Council of the 2nd Session of the Hydropower and Electric Power Branch of the Chinese Geophysical Society: Achievement Summary and Future Prospect

From March 10th to 12th, 2025, the 2nd Working Meeting of the Standing Council of the 2nd Session of the Hydropower and Electric Power Branch of the Chinese Geophysical Society was successfully held in Yanji, Jilin. This meeting was hosted by the Hydropower Branch and undertaken by China Water Northeast Investigation, Design and Research Co., Ltd., attracting more than 70 representatives from 35 member units.
The meeting comprehensively summarized the remarkable achievements in 2024, including the successful holding of 6 branded conferences, building a broad platform for industry exchanges; the completion of the publication of four issues of “Engineering Geophysics”, spreading the latest technologies and research results; and the promotion of monograph compilation, improving the industry knowledge system.
For 2025, the meeting clarified the key activity arrangements. The academic annual meeting to be held in Changsha, Hunan in mid – September, with the theme of “New Energy Engineering Construction and Engineering Geophysics”, conforms to the era background of the rapid development of new energy. In the construction of new energy projects such as wind farms and solar power plants, geophysical technologies are used in site selection, geological stability assessment, and other links. Geotech Instrument’s DC Resistivity Sounding and Vertical electrical sounding (VES) technologies can accurately measure the resistivity changes at different underground depths, helping to determine suitable engineering construction areas and screen out potential geological risks. The 5th Symposium on Geological and Geophysical Technologies for Water Conservancy and Hydropower Projects to be held in Yining, Xinjiang in early June focuses on “Investigation and Detection of Geological Problems in Major Water Conservancy and Hydropower Projects under Complex Environmental Conditions”. Under the complex geological and geomorphological conditions in Xinjiang, the company’s Induced Polarization (IP) technology can effectively distinguish different substances underground, helping to detect underground water resources, mineral resources, and geological structures, providing a solid geological basis for the construction of water conservancy and hydropower projects.

From September 4th to 6th, 2025, the 2025 Xinjiang Petroleum and Chemical Industry Expo will be grandly opened at the Xinjiang International Convention and Exhibition Center. As an important exhibition in the petroleum and chemical industry in the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, it will attract global attention and jointly explore industry development trends.
